Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed to press following the August 2026 previews that GTA VI's wanted system returns to six stars, last seen in earlier era GTA titles, replacing GTA V's five-star cap. One star is described as easy to shake, while six stars produces a high-chaos, heavily armed police response. The system was demonstrated during the Extended Look and detailed further in hands-off preview sessions Rockstar gave to outlets including IGN and GamesRadar in late August 2026.
